For the first time we held our get together at 2 different locations and dates, with 2 different makers.

SOaP7 ( Haren )

The craft of making natural soap is a pure balance between chemistry and cooking your favorite recipe. Scientifically, soap is the saponification of a fat with lye. But soap is so much more.

At this get together Margot Rutten from SOaP7 guided us through the field of natural non factory-produced soap. She makes soap the way our ancestors did: without any synthetic ingredients or conservatives, but with lots of nutritive olive oil and other natural ingredients instead.

During this afternoon we learned all about soap making. Starting with natural ingredients and a soap making recipe we peeked into all tools and supplies required. At the end we turned home with our own hand made soap.

De Amsterdamsche Zeepfabriek ( Amsterdam )

Since 1497, soap is manufactured in Amsterdam. Amsterdam’s newest soap factory revives this tradition. They make soap as it was usual in those days. Made of natural fats and ingredients, without any synthetics involved.

At this get together ‘De Amsterdamsche Zeepfabriek’ guided us through the field of natural non factory-produced soap. The craft of soap making is finding the best balance between your soap recipe and touching your senses.
